2016 | Skripsi | SosiologiAbstract This study discusses a migration conducted by the head of the household (husband) in the village of Jenggik North, District Montong Gading, East Lombok district to be Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) in Malaysia, has an impact on family life (wife) that abandoned in the area of origin, especially regarding the changing role of livelihood in which they live. Moreover, being an interesting point of this research is the wide range of driving factors causing villagers of North Jenggik to migrate abroad as migrant workers. Seeing high rates of migration of villagers in North Jenggik, it apparently has attracted the attention of various groups, including government agencies and non govermental organizations (NGO). Sociological analysis used in this study is the Anthony Giddens’ idea about modernization and globalization. Then, there is also a theory about the status and role in the family by William J. Goode. The reason of using these thoughts is because of this research want to understand the family situation (his wife) left by the husband over the years who become migrant workers abroad. Besides that, the changing role of migrant wives do their livelihoods during the husband work, has been the focus of study in this research as well.
