ABSTRACT China Industrial Policy in Rare Earth Element Industry Name : Danang Arif Hidayat NIM : 07/253924/SP/22126 Rare Earth Element (REE) is a group of minerals that have special properties and irreplacable that makes it so crucial for most industries. In the late 90’s China start to gain stable foothold and dominant position in global REE industry. Since then China gain near monopoly domination as U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report in 2010 stated that China supply about 130.000 tons or 97% of global REE supply chain. Since 2005 China start to reduce export quota gradualy, and later they cut off production quota. It shows that China start to move their development track as a reaction to recent domestic and international situation. As a crucial material to most industries, China realize that they must reshape their REE industry to support their long term plan.
