Ilmu Sosiatri)ABSTRACT People needs of animal protein sources, especially that derived from beef in Indonesia is growing with increasing number of non-resident encourage movement as a business fulfillment. In this case, the formation of livestock groups either made by community or institution could be the answer. Thus, an obstacle appear as sustainability problem for group future, which is closely related to the resilience of the group. There is a group called Ngudi Mulyo Group, which is located in Depok, Wonolelo Village, Pleret District, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This group managed to survive and has quite successful track record since it was first established until now. This research aim to discover: 1. Survival strategy of Ngudi Mulyo Group to confront internal and external problems, 2. Identify factors and asset management ability that affect group sustainability. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive method of analysis. Data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and review documents. To facilitate data processing which is already compressed, the researchers used analytical framework by Moser, The Asset Vulnerability Framework which holds concept of survival strategies or groups resistance. In the discussion, researcher acquired coping strategies group through the management of assets, including: asset human capital by implementing the strategy in the form of training using a conventional pattern or commonly understood by the public, productive assets by consistently producing cows with high quality, asset relationship with the responsibilities reports required by the BPTP and the animal Husbandry Department, social capital assets by raising awareness of its members to continue to maintain norms and trust in the group. In fact, there is no influence caused by the government's beef import policy to Ngudi Mulyo Group’s trade and productivity. Also, research found that support given by government and other instituion did not create any dependence, yet independence support groups. This fact supported by the discovery that the utilization of such assistance is still running to date. Independence of Ngudi Mulyo group based on several factors including ability of basic requirements fulfillment of formal management in social capital, which in this case also have an important contribution in supporting economic resilience of the group. The application of decisive leadership wisdom pattern, as well as competitive principles shared by members of the group. Besides, it turned out that this group has a negative side to commit fraud in the form of a fictitious group members. Keywords: survival strategies, livestock group, community organization
