Journalistic world that demands deadline working system forced journalists to squeeze more thought, energy, and time. Similarly, the world of crime which is identic to danger, is also often related to men. Then, what about the women journalists who covered the field of criminal? This study seeks to show how newspapers work of women journalists from Merapi Pembaruan covering crime news, viewed through a gender perspective. The case study method is used as the most suitable method for investigate this phenomenon. Observation, interviews and document study conducted in an attempt to dig up data. Informants in this study were three newspaper journalists from Merapi Pembaruan. The results showed that women journalists have their own autonomy in covering crime news. The key is to put yourself in socializing to build connections. On the other hand, the relation of power still held by men in ordinate positions. While women are no longer regarded as the others, but the stigma of being a subordinate position is still clearly visible.
