ABSTRACT In Indonesia, city branding is not strange thing anymore. There are many large cities in Indonesia that do some city branding activities to improve its national and international values. A good city image or region is believed to affect economic that led to religion welfare and prosperity. Because of that, South Sumatera try to increase positive image and value through its city branding activities. South Sumatera is one of a proof how the region got that domino effect of city branding. It begins when South Sumatera got pick to be cohost of 18th Asian Games 2018 and then got a lot of funds to develop region infrastructure from investors. City branding also had a big influence for tourism visit that increase economic strength. Therefore, this research carried out for understanding how South Sumatera build a new brand image in detail process. How city branding of South Sumatera Province can build a new brand image is the main focus of this research.
