Slow Food Movement emerged as a counter to McDonalds‟ opening in Rome in 1986. Fast food becomes one of the globalization phenomena closest in our surrounding, where fast food outlets can be found almost in all cities in this world. Thousands outlets of a fast food industry is able to provide a threat to the loss of certain varieties of food chain, besides its impact of economic, cultural, and environments. Slow Food Movement exists as an antithesis movement as well as solutions to those negative impacts. With a network that spread in more than 160 countries, Slow Food Movement seeks to create an alternative to the new globalization, namely the globalization from below. Slow Food Movement acts as an agent who tries to influence the social structures globally, taking into consideration the quality of life aspects than economic factors. This thesis aims to identify the relationship between Slow Food Movement and the phenomenon of globalization through strategies of Slow Food Movement, which analysed by the concept of globalization and structuration theory by Anthony Giddens.
