ABSTRACT Abdi Dalem were devoted and persevering people that dedicated lifes to Keraton Ngayogyakarto Hadiningrat (Yogyakarta King Palace) leads by Sultan. The devotion of Abdi Dalem were based on sincerity towards the Sultan and Keraton Ngayogyakarto Hadiningrat. Interesting while knowing factors that affected Abdi Dalem to be devoted servant of Keraton in minimum payoff. The devotion of Abdi Dalem described in lifetime devotion toward Jogjakarta King Palace bring an interesting relation. The research attempted for understanding the existing relationship between Abdi Dalem and Keraton through patron-client relation. The used of understanding from two persons exchange for knowing relationship between Abdi Dalem and Keraton . Research taken in qualitative-descriptive methods. Research located in Jogjakarta King Palace, Jogjakarta, using 8 informant of Abdi Dalem who has received “kekancingan” as official sign of Abdi Dalem. Research results showed conslusion that there are two factors affected the devotion of Abdi Dalem toward Keraton. First factor, Abdi Dalem will received beneficial change on life, after several years of devotion to Keraton, mainly embodied in peacefull and blessed feelings. Second factor, a chance of knowledge absorbing at Keraton after being Abdi Dalem. Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat well-known as one of biggest Java culture in the world, a reason why the people always wanted to be part of Keraton.
