Abstract This writing has these following goals. Firstly, describing the social changes that taking place in Yogyakarta. Secondly, assessing the impact of these social changes to Yogyakarta local community’s lives. Thirdly, observing responses of the conservatives in facing some social changes taking place in Yogyakarta. Methods used in this research are consist of literature study and in-depth interview with Yogyakarta conservatives community that institusionalize itself to this organization named Paksi Katon. Beside these methods, this research also conducted by interviewing stakeholders, journalists, and local elite figures. This research has some findings: firstly, nowadays Yogyakarta is facing social changes such as multicultural social constelation and encouragement in changing political relation towards democratic and egalitarian politics. Secondly, these social changes encourage the establishment of Yogyakarta conservative society and utilizing community policing policy in Yogyakarta. Thirdly, Paksi Katon responses these social changes by becoming milisi tradisi. They save cultural events, keep Yogyakarta cultural icons, discipline some nowecomers who do not obey the local value.
