ABSTRACT This study aims to determine how workers are treated in the news in Tempo.co and Sindonews.com, two Indonesian online media, throughout 2014. Borrowing a term from the concept of object representation in the news by the media, researchers summarizes the types of news media's treatment of objects in several categories to see how a person, a group, an idea, or a particular opinion is treated in the news. Practice representation in the news, in practice, often distorted, or erroneous depiction and portrayal of error (Littlejohn, 1992: 67-69). In summary, the representation answer the following questions: with words, sentences, and the help of photo accentuation what kind of a person, a group or idea appears in the news to the audience (Eriyanto, 2001: 114). This paper starts from the realization that the media make up the reality of the events that occurred up to be a story or meaningful discourse. Thus, the work of journalism can also be referred to as the working retelling, or rearrangement of a reality. There are at least three measures that were carried out in the media workers doing construction of reality: the selection of symbols (language functions); the selection of facts that will be presented (framing strategies); and the willingness of member places (agenda setting). In quantitative content analysis, research more contact with the recording of symbols (both text and visual) to explains the specific meanings that are constructed by the mass media. Furthermore, this study tries to map the correlation between product quality journalism with the type of treatment applied to workers as a news object
