ABSTRACT The study of politics still biased to the interest of the state and intermediaries. The daily politics phenomena can be said as a marginal topic. This study strated by anxiety and a will to show up the daily politics as a noteworthy discourse. Because power relation in daily activity of unconsious and considered as customary. The haul or death admonition is the focus of the study. Haul, a familiar term among pesantren circle, is a tradition which rarely discussed. This study argues that in the haul tradition there are invisible power relation which try to make kyai legitimation as elite consistently. By the case study methods of KH. M. Munawwir’s haul in PP.Al-Munawwir, Krapyak, Yogyakarta, this study use symbolic power theory by Bourdieu as analysis tool. Through symbolic power concept, power relation is exposed by analysis of arena, capital, and habitus. The finding of this study is a pesantren as an arena which has value, rules, and resources which act as capital. One of important capital in pesantren is symbolic capital such as legitimation and reverence. The KH. M.Munawwir’s haul tradition is an effort to sustain symbolic capital so the legitimation will be sustainable.
