ABSTRACT In a year, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) jumped into the second highest position in a list of province in Indonesia with violation of religious/ faith’s freedom and intoleration. The list which is recorded in the Annual Report of The Wahid Institute (2014) showed that there were 22 incidents of religious intolerance at 2014, which has increased to 733,33% from 2013 with 3 incidents only. Regarding the event, the researcher observed news of religious intolerance between SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat, which identified itself as “media of Yogyakarta’s people” and SKH Harian Jogja, local mass media’s rival which networked with media group in Jakarta. By referring to the constructivism paradigm and framing model of Pan and Kosicki, the researcher finds that SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat and SKH Harian Jogja tend to frame religious intolerance in a big frame: as law and criminality’s incident, with the emphasize on violence. In addition, the blurring of the elements of who and why about the context of incident caused the failure of major issue to be revealed to the surface.
