ABSTRACT Inequality of men and women identified as the root of injustice experienced by women. This inequality was awakened on a foundation of patriarchal culture solidly entrenched in the society because it is sustained by a system of involving multi agent (media, religious institutions, the institution of the family, educational institutions, even country). So that the inequality of men and women, or often called gender inequality become part of social system within the society. In the elimination of gender-based inequities, the organization that handles such issues often using capacity building approach to wife or women, in order so they can have more capabilities. Training and protection for women is done so women can become more independent and able to know her rights as wives and daughters. Hopefully, knowing her rights, women can become more independent and stand equal as men as one form of gender equality. In the women’s movement, slowly emerged of men who join to empower women and tried to embody the gender equality. These men, build a network and organize as a men’s movement in the world of gender and social movement. Men’s movement gave a new look in the world of gender and social movement, which normally dominated by women. However, men’s movement needs to clarify his position and role as a social movement in the world that dominated by women’s movement. Using qualitative methods, this research want to capture and analyze the position and role of New Men’s Alliance as a men’s movement in the world of gender and social movement. Through analysis by motive, reactions and activities performed by New Men’s Alliance, this research was able to capture that New Men’s Alliance not only as a men’s movement, but also have a position and role as a legitimacy of the women’s movement, to create image, there are not just women in the world of gender and social movement, but there are also men too, who defend and empower women.
