ABSTRACT This study aimed to see the presence of women in the village at the time of recovery Kepuharjo Merapi eruption. Kepuharjo Village is a disaster-prone area because of its proximity to the epicenter. The survival of women Kepuharjo for three years past the Merapi eruption in 2010 showed that, in the absence of limitations that they can not do though including the inside of the vulnerable groups. This is because the village known as industrial centers wedang Kepuharjo uwuh with the agent driving are women. Future disaster recovery as a part in the context of disasters and their ability to survive the women in this study used a conceptual approach to the threat of a disaster, the role of women and social capital, as well as disaster resilient communities. The threat of disaster concept can be defined to determine the presence or absence of vulnerability and resilience in view of the level of risk that a disaster could occur. It certainly should be supported by the concept of the role undertaken by women Kepuharjo who has worked in defense during the recovery period. It is this ability which then delivers capable or not they are to be categorized as part of a disaster resilient community. This research used qualitative methods and approaches survey data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and combined with secondary data by way of a secondary. Through the data collected to the conclusion that women Kepuharjo village have a strong ability to survive during pemuliha this showed the diversification of the work done by them. On the other hand also shows the slow pace of the ability to rise to the level of a stable economy in a short time, this is very much due to the magnitude of the eruption happened. Overcoming a relatively long time for the level to a stable economy, required the provision of appropriate capital and training of pencoker in order to earn a better income.
