Penyesuaian Diri Peserta Didik SMA IT Baitussalam Boarding School di Lingkungan Sosial Baru

2016 | Skripsi | SosiologiABSTRACTION Students of SMA IT Baitussalam have to move from the old social environment to live in a new one, the environment of a boarding school. Some of the students come from boarding school and there are students who come from non-boarding school. The students with diverse backgrounds being mixed together there and become a part of Baitussalam society. Every society must have value, norms, and culture which has been run together, therefore they have to adapt to the values, norms, and culture in the new social environment. Self adaptation of every students were diverse one from another, some of them are successful and some other are fail. However, the interesting part obout the phenomenon is when there are students who have same previous school background but the result of their self adaptation come out differently or otherwise, the background of their previous school is different but they share the same result. This is what makes the writer interested in studying the factors that could motivate and obstruct the self adaptation of boarding school students in the new social environment This research is belong to a descriptive qualitative research with individual of micro-level analysis unit. The mhetods used to collect data are direct observation, interviews, and documentary studies. As the blade analysis, this study uses the theory os Social Adjustment by Schneiders and some other sociology figures, as well as the theory of Self Actualization or Levels of Needs Theory by Abraham Maslow. The theory is deemed suitable by the author because it contains the concepts of social adjustment which is closely related to human needs and self-actualization. This research is a result of the fact that there are several factors that could pace and inhibit the ability of student’s self adaptation, not merely about the school background that could be an important factor in the self adaptation of students, but social factors also play an imprtant role: both as a motivating an inhibiting factor of student’s self-adaptation at a boarding school. The social factors include human relationship with other students as friends, teachers, school employees, and socio-economic background, motivation, mindset, and also the point of view of each students.
