2016 | Skripsi | Pembangunan Sosial dan Kesejahteraan (dh. Ilmu Sosiatri)ABSTRACT Indonesia, which is an agricultural country, had imported 844.163,7 tons of rice from other countries in 2014. It happened because of the decreasing number of farmers in Indonesia. One of many factors that causing the decreasing number of farmers is the lack of the young generation’s interest on being farmer as their occupation. The choice of being a farmer is children’s right and this decision is made by the external factor, which is how the school gives children description and representation about occupation through the school curriculum. The research method used in this research is a combination method of qualitative method and quantitative method, which the quantitative data is used to support the qualitative data. In the other hand, the data sampling method uses observation, interview, documentation, literature review, and questionnaire. This research uses functional structural theory and social classification concept in order to analyze the data. This research is done at Pajangan Subdistrict, Bantul District, Yogyakarta. The result of this research consists of three findings. First, there is a Description in the elementary school education system about occupation, which focuses on economical aspect so that the children are aimed to choose any occupation that has continuous and stable wage. It has to be mentioned that farmer is one of some occupations which do not have continuous and stable wage. Second, the educational institute and family institute divide occupation into classes. To be an employee, whether it is private employee or office worker, is considered to be an ideal occupation. Parents are willing to do any possible thing to make their children get this class of occupation, including selling their farming land and not allowing their children to become farmer. Third, the children assume that working is an activity for producing money to fulfill their daily needs. The children assume that any occupation which involving uniform is a proper occupation to get in the future. Keywords : Educational curriculum, social class, occupation, Pajangan Subdistrict.
