Diplomasi Seni Kontemporer:(Studi kasus Biennale Jogja EQUATOR Series)

ABSTRACT Biennale’s art event series are the form of the city to show how their culutre and art can evolve and also have specific values to the general public. There’re many cities in the world that run this event, and Yogyakarta is one of them. Biennale Jogja is currently held by Yogyakarta Biennale Foundation (YBY), which has a vision and mission to evolve the dynamics of art and culture in the third world country. This purpose comes up because of the hegemony of art by the country that become the center of art, which controlled by western, and it caused their domination of third world country in various of global contemporary art activities. The way to fight this matter, YBY try to pioneering a collective movement by work together with the third world country in art and culture sector. YBY has a central role to built the cross-border network because as the transnational actor they use a second track diplomacy to run counter hegemony strategy. The efforts to built new strength among the third world countries is held thru arts and involved in Biennale Jogja EQUATOR Series agenda which is a form of cooperation between Indonesia’s actor of cross-border art with the cross-border art actor of another country as their colleagues.
