Hambatan dalam Kinerja Kelompok Kerja Sosial Ekonomi Malaysia Indonesia (KK Sosek Malindo)

ABSTRACT The establishment of Sosek Malindo on 1984 has not brought any significant results for the progress of border areas situation in Malaysia and Indonesia. This international regime that was established as a form of cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia was designed to protect their border areas and create welfare for local community. Thus, it is interesting to observe what factors hinder the performance of Sosek Malindo. This research will focus on obstacles around Sosek Malindo from Indonesia‟s perspective because writer will analyze the role of state government in this regime as well. Writer‟s methodology comprises of interviews with local officers who have been taking care of Sosek Malindo and literature study by observing news, agreement documents, and books that support this research. There are two different factors that have become obstacles for Sosek Malindo‟s performance. The first are organizational factors that are related with regime structure of Sosek Malindo, and the second are non-organizational factors that are related with regime dynamics.
