Strategi Bertahan Hidup Mantan Pekerja Tetap PT. Kertas Blabak Pasca Perusahaan Dinyatakan Pailit

ABSTRACT Each company has an authority to take a layoff. Layoffswere experienced by the workers in PT. Kertas Blabak due to company bankruptcy. This condition forced the company to stop all of the company activity and ended up with the layoff for all the workers. Layoff, then inflicted a new problem for the former workers, since they were no longer having regular income which has an impact on how they fulfill their daily needs. To assess the workers survival strategy after the layoff, investigator took Kelurahan Mungkid as a place for this study. Informants of this study were former regular workers of PT. Kertas Blabak and chosen by purposive method. In this study, investigator collected the data through interviews, observations, and written materials or documents. Documentation such as photos and recording of the interview were also used in this study. Result of this study showed that layoff affected the process of fulfilling workers family needs. The former workers took an action as an effort to survive after the layoff. Strategy were considered by their capability such as doing an odd jobs, tighten on spending their money, look for a loan, and created their own carrier opportunity. Another survival strategy the former workers used was utilizing their connection from family or friends. Keywords: layoff, survival strategy, connection.
