Strategi Pemerintah Jepang Era Shinzo Abe dalam Mewujudkan Jepang sebagai Tourist Receiving Country

Japan had taken control many industries such as manufacture industry for years. But now it has changed and Japan faces many difficult problems both internally and externally. The growing industries from Japan’s neighbour such as in Korea and China turn into a threat for Japan’s economy. Japan’s shrinking economy was caused by its domestic problems such as aging population, lack of women emancipation in the workforce. This will affect in declining of Japan’s workforce as well its production. Therefore, Japan’s conventional core of economy cannot be relied to any longer. For this reason, Government of Japan tried to find out a new industry that can boost its economy. Tourism industry as a creative industry can be seen as a big opportunity to face Japan’s problems. Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe then developed tourism industry as a driving force for Japan’s economy. The efforts of Japanese Government was proven by Japan’s achievement in increasing number of international tourist significantly. The writer then had a research question of how the strategy of Japanese Government under Shinzo Abe to develop tourism industry and make Japan as tourist receiving country. The theory of nation branding and politics of tourism development will be used to answering the researh question. From these theory will be explained that Japan’s Government established policies aimed to develop tourism. Government of Japan had a role to promote tourism and gain the benefit for economy.
