Pengorganisasian Filantropi Islam:(Studi pada Laskar Sedekah Yogyakarta)

Abstract Philanthropy can be interpreted as a manifestation of loving people through giving activities. In Islam, giving activities institutionalized in religion doctrine. One of them is charity. Nowadays, many of charity activities organized by civil society by establishment LAZIS. One of the charity institution which discussed in this essay is Laskar Sedekah. As a new comer in philanthropy arena, Laskar Sedekah was able to show it’s significant achieving. Starting from fundraising, assets,untill the growth of chapter in 19 cities in Indonesia. Therefore, it will be interesting to understand how Laskar Sedekah organized. As an auxiliary instrument to understand how Laskar Sedekah organized, this thesis uses the New Institutionalism theoretical concept of Victor Nee (2005). This theory started from assumption that economic action who does by an actor is also embedded in-non economic aspect. The framework of New Institutionalism divided into 3 level: first, makro level about institutional environment, second, organization in middle level, and third, the interest actors in mikro level. Related by Laskar Sedekah organizing, this thesis focusing on organization process in middle level. This research use qualitative descriptive approach to describe and understand the phenomenon. This research conducted in center Laskar Sedekah in Yogyakarta. The result of this research showed that there are several components of the institutional environment that affect the organizing of Laskar Sedekah. Such as state regulations, religion doctrine, social-cultural value, untill the communication device like social media. Laskar Sedekah try to adapted with these institutional environtment. In it’s organization, Laskar Sedekah are mainly operated by young people. They often use unique ways to introduce Laskar Sedekah in the public. The organizational process explained from technique to arrange human resources, fundraising and funding management, also how Laskar Sedekah was able to fulfill it’s operational activities necessary. In the last, this essay will explain how Laskar Sedekah treat it’s relation with the interest actor which potential for it’s organization circulation.
