ABSTRACT Relokasi Suku Dayak Basap, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur, Kabupaten Berau, Kecamatan Biduk-biduk is a study that discusses the implementation of the relocation program of the Dayak Basap. Relocation has made Dayak Basap evolving, and social change is a phenomenon that occurs as a result of the relocation. The process of relocation and adaptation to the new space for the Dayak Basap are the focus of this study. Aims to provide an overview of the process of relocation and how the conditions Dayak Basap today. This research is a descriptive exploratory study with ethnographic methods that explain how the process and outcome from the relocation of the Dayak Basap. Exploration results give a description of the process of relocation and social change of the condition of the Dayak Basap. Settlement is the space that’s produced through a series of dialectical process. Dayak Basap represent and represented settlements as a room for their new life. Settlements formed Dayak Basap for modern life, made them began to leave the traditional aspects and start using aspects of modernity in the process of living, as a form of social change in the social institutions that surround systems, structures , values and social norms Dayak Basap. Based on the findings and analysis, Dayak Basap progressing through the implementation of the relocation. Relocation is a modernization efforts, by providing modern aspects of the Dayak Basap adapted and implemented through the interpretation of Dayak Basap against the settlements. Dayak Basap condition now is not a condition that naturally occur, but rather a condition that is directed through the relocation process. Dayak Basap has modernized with the presence of settlements.
