Produktivitas Kelompok Walet Sakti dalam Pengelolaan Sarang Burung Walet Habitat Alami di Kabupaten Kebumen

ABSTRACT Kebumen is one of producers of swallow’s nest. Although Kebumen has been known for its swallow, the productivity of swallow’s nests in Kebumen Regency had been declining until year 2011 and the earned income is very far from the target. Swallow’s nest natural habitat managed by the local government has now become Karangduwur village government authority through a letter agreement between the Government of Kebumen Regency with Karangduwur village government, namely No. 600/087/2012 on the management and operation of swallow. Furthermore, Karangduwur village government formed swallow’s nest management group named Walet Sakti Group. This study aims to determine the productivity of Walet Sakti Group in managing swallow nests in Karangduwur Cave Unit and the factors that influence it. This study is a qualitative research with explorative method. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews and documentation. Further, the technique of data analysis was done by using triangulation, then the data is sorted, analyzed, and combined to the conclusion. The results showed that productivity management of swallow’s nests made by Walet Sakti Group tends to increase every year. In 2012 the swallow’s nests produced are 26.55 kg with a sales revenue of 141,450,000.00 rupiahs. Whereas in 2015, swallow’s nests produced are 30.90 kg with a sales revenue of 189,765,000.00 rupiahs. Factors that have been good are the competence of members of Walet Sakti Group, the maintenance way, guarding and harvesting which were implemented. While the factor that needs more attention is the infrastructure used. The writer’s suggestions are the improvements in both quality and quantity of all the factors that exist, especially the infrastructure. Repairment of worker’s safety and security supporting facilities and infrastructure is indispensable in the harvesting process such as the use of safety ropes, ladders from stronger materials as well as swallow’s nests picker tools. Making Walet Sakti Group a village owned enterprise (BUMDes) is also needed. By doing so, Walet Sakti Group can manage swallow’s nests more optimally so they can serve as the main village income (PADes). Keywords: Swallow's Nest, Productivity, Walet Sakti Group.
