ABSTRACT Mining has always been a problem that are never be stopped happening. For the purpose of improvement and modernity, natural resources are exploited without concerning about the damage to the environtment and social life. The land in Guyangan Hill in Wonolelo village, Pleret, Bantul, DIY, also become a soil mining. The local people can’t even resist. And then, a group of youth people who joined into environment youth forum (FPPLP) starts an initiation to resist the soil mining in Guyangan Hill. The research used mobilization resources theory by McCarthy and Mayer N. Zald. FPPLP used two strategy, the first is to create public opinion by using media according to Austin Ranney. The community radio were used as the media. In creating the public opinion, the people are told to be aware and understand what is the meaning of environmental sustainability by involving the values embraced by the local society, and also based on bad effect caused by the previous soil mining. Secondly, referring to Johan Tann and Roem Topatimasang, after public opinion created, a mass action shall be done. The method used in this study is qualitative method with case studies approachment. The research resulted in the facts that Sadewo Community Radio has always been active mainly in creating the public opinion. The Sadewo Community Radio also always becomes the main source to get information for the local society. The activity causes impact in the massive changes in the local society. Beside that, to strengthen the movement to follow up the findings, the outer like ombudsman is also necessary to be dragged into the field.
