The Role AIESEC( Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) As a Transnational Actor in Promoting Attitude Changes Through Community Development in Indonesia

ABSTRACT With the emergence of non-state actors in the political world today, their presence has affected not only the state actors but also the civil society. A number of non-state actors which ranging from multinational companies (MNCs) to nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) has practically influenced the global politics in many various ways. AIESEC as one international non-governmental organization that focuses on youth leadership development plays a unique role on impacting young people to develop their potential by involving in exchange and membership programs. With its presence in more than 124 countries, the organization has involved on developing youths and community around the globe. AIESEC in Indonesia was established in 1971 with more than 22 local committees today around the country. Numerous social projects and leadership development have been delivered throughout the decades by involving exchange participants from outside the country and local university students as the members. AIESEC with its missions of developing the community to achieve “Peace and Fulfillment of Humankind’s Potential” is necessary to be discussed for the mission milestones that have been achieved especially in Indonesia. This undergraduate thesis focuses on the significance of the attitude changes that are done by taking samples on AIESEC in Universitas Brawijaya and AIESEC in Universitas Gadjah Mada in doing community development, with the local members and for the local community as the research object. The theoretical framework that is used in this undergraduate thesis is the role of transnational actor in attitude changes.
