ABSTRACT Name : Ario Bowo Susanto Study Program : Sociology Title : Social Mitigation of Cold Lava Flood. (Case Study: Jogoyudan, Yogyakarta) Indonesia is one country that has the potential for major disasters. During the period of last 10 years, floods are the most common disaster in this country. Floods have impacted the greatest percentage that is equal to 78.5%. For context DIY, frequent disasters are cold lava flood. In the 2010 eruption Code river bank into many areas affected by cold lava flood. Gowongan be the most affected areas, precisely in the village Gowongan. Social capital theory that describes the shape of the social capacity of the individual linkages with other individuals who have a network link allows the establishment of cooperation with external parties in the face of cold lava flood. The method used in this study is qualitative. This research position Jogoyudan civil society as the main focus in the study. The method used in this study is qualitative. Jogoyudan society becomes the main focus in this study. Data collection is done by observation, interview, and documentation in the field. Results from this study showed that association forms of social mitigation RT / RW in Kampung Jogoyudan, Ronda night, and monthly communal work. Disaster mitigation efforts undertaken such communities worked together to create a dike, evacuation, worked together to make emergency post, and place of refuge, of institutional forms of social mitigation consists of Forum mothers disaster resilient, health cadres Posyandu, youth organization, vigilantes, association working groups, and ORARI community. Until now the program is still ongoing trainings on Pengurangan Risiko Bencana (PRB) and Wajib Latih Pengurangan Risiko Bencana (WLPB) in Jogoyudan village.
