The rapid improvement and development of musical instrument industry in Hamamatsu after World War II, has made this industry become the main player in the musical instrument industry market. It can’t be separated from the role of the government of Japan that provides policies to promote collaboration among University, Local Government, and Private Sector in the framework of Regional Innovation System. This paper stresses on the implication of Regional Innovation System that promoted by Japan’s government to advance innovation toward musical instrument industry in Hamamatsu. Hamamatsu is the centre of musical instrument industry in Japan with Yamaha, Roland, and Kawai as the main big corporations. With Regional Innovation Systems framework, there is collaboration among the government, universities, and private. This collaboration encourages innovation of musical instruments in Hamamatsu.
