ABSTRACT The reader community of a romance novel become a variation of communication phenomenon. Roman as a part of pop culture offers a story about relationships, potentially giving the reader some impact on the emotional side, the understanding of relationship or even attitude. The influence of the various levels of this occurs when the reader interacts with the message in the story through the reading process. Interaction means a meeting between the reality of the story with reader’s reality. Dee Lestari, a popular fiction writer who was famous for offering a different perspective emerged in 2001 in the debut of her first novel which got a big success in the market, Supernova: Ksatria, Putri dan Bintang Jatuh. In the novel, Dee offers a new perspective for the reader how to understand the relationship of love, seen from the element of commitment, intimacy and passion. On one hand, Dee successes’s of the Supernova led a group of readers who tend to be fanatical of his work. Analysis reception is a studies understanding at the meaning of the text media audience. The research looked at the meaning of the readers who have an interest in Dee towards the concept of a romantic relationship offered in her novel. Interesting findings emerged, that turned out to readers who claimed having an interest in Dee’s novel surprisingly opposed to the concept of relationships offered by Dee. Therefore, the socio-cultural factors that shape the reader's understanding concepts about relationships have tended to contradiction with the concept of relationship offered by Dee. The conclusion about these findings is sosio-cultural aspects have a greater impact than fictional media addicted to give understanding about relationship.
