Abstract This minithesis on Kedaulatan Rakyat newspaper to give readers insights into political pattern behind discourse contestation. Utilizing Van Leuween method of discourse analysis which puts emphasis on analyzing the use of practices of exclusion and inclusion in discourse process. We could see that Kedaulatan Rakyat actually play its part in transforming field of discourse, started by comdenation, then it gradually begins to “heronize” the petpetrator and the military itself as a institution. By examining that thoroughly then it is brought into light the significance of language in politic , why it may happens, and political process behind it all Discourse transformation in Kedaulatan Rakyat can be seen on level of actor, idea and vocabulary. On actor level is marked by good representation of military institution. Discourse transformation makes it possible for military to be perceived as a hero. It is made possible by process of hegemony of militarism in society and social cognizion of media. Hegemony of militarism makes it inevitable that the contents of Kedaulatan Rakyat would be in favor of pro militarism and status quo. Keywords : hegemony, militarism, discourse
