The biggest obstacle which the craftsmen face is the limitation of access towards the production factors such as the capital and the facilities access. The formation of business groups becomes one of the real forms to minimize the obstacles faced by the craftsmen. This research aims to discover: 1. how is the role of the business group to increase the empowerment of the craftsmen; 2. is the existence of the business group helping the craftsmen to be more independent and empowered. The method used in this research was qualitative method and using the analysis descriptive approach. Through this approach, there could be found the deeper description and elaboration about certain social symptom. The related social symptom of phenomenon was about theemergence of business groups and craftsmen empowerment. In this research, the data gathering techniques was observation, in depth interview, and document analysis. Based on the research conducted, the conclusion drawn is the existence of business group in Bobung region has been proven to increase the craftsmen empowerment. It can be shown by the increasing of craftsmen’s ability to have an access on production factors such as capital, market, raw materials, and the facilities independently. Besides that, the craftsmen, nowadays, can identify the strengths and the weakness in their business. The ability to understand the detail of their business, starting from the weakness to the strength, is very important to be done by the craftsmen. By having the ability, they can read the market’s probability, solve and find the solutions that they face using the strength and weakness they have. The empowerment experienced by the craftsmen is obtained through a long process called organizing. This organizing process happens in the business group. The organizing is done by the craftsmen, from the craftsmen, and for the craftsmen. Keywords: powerless, business group, organizing
