ABSTRACT Vespa (the classic one) is two-wheeled vehicle which still exists in today's technological development. The phenomenon of the Vespa lovers who gather and form a community has been there since several decades ago. Now, the existence of Vespa is related closely to Vespa community. In Yogyakarta, there are a lot of Vespa communities, either the official ones which usually has community rules (AD ART), and independent (unofficial) ones. One of the communities is Mat Sc Club (MSC). MSC is the biggest Vespa community in DIY and Muntilan. Now, MSC becomes parent of six districts (smaller groups). Those districts are locates in Muntilan and DIY. One of those district which is rated as a good and has a good achievement of being well in coordinating community schedule is VOC. This district is the youngest and still has less members than others. Why are there people who still join and even being loyal to Vespa community in this such modern age? Is that for satisfying their hobby, or for being recognized by other people, or there are other factors? Therefore, this research is aimed to look for the answer of motifs of members involvement and social relationship among members in Vespa community of VOC. This research uses two theories, those are alienation theory (One-Dimensional Man) by Herbert Marcuse, identity theory and social relationship. This research uses qualitative method with case study. The data collection techniques were done by participant observation, interview, and studying documentations. Based on this research, it is found that there are four motifs, those are: economic motif, politic and having organization, hobby and self-existence, and social needs. Those motifs influence social relationship among members of that community. The relationship among members reflects motifs or advantages which individual wants to achieve.
