Urgensi Literasi Digital untuk Pelajar SMA:(Penelitian Survei Tingkat Literasi Digital Pelajar Sekolah Menengah Atas-Negeri di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta)

ABSTRACT Recently, IT and communication development specially internet already change the mindset and behaviour of the many teenagers. Internet can give positive effects to the teenagers, due to by internet they can build their social identity that related with their anxiety; “Who Am I” and “Where Is My Place” (Kirsh, 2010: 21). But in other side, internet bring negative effect such as cyberbullying that show to us how ethics less of the teenagers during internet surfing (Pratama: 2014: 335). As digital native, students are presented many various hi-tech communications, but they are still ethics less while communicate using internet. In Indonesia, digital literacy is only focused to internet technical competency. However, based on individual competence by European Commission (2009), to measure individual media literacy level, at least there are 3 competences that should be fulfilled; technical skill, critical understanding, and active communication skill. This research is proposed to get illustration about digital literacy level of high school students especially in D.I. Yogyakarta by individual competences measurement that created and used by European Commission (2009). This research uses quantitative survey method and for the instrument to main data collection is questioner. The conclusion of this research is the digital literacy level of high school students in Yogyakarta already in advanced level. The students have skilled in many hi-tech gadget, not only hardware but also software. Their critical understanding is also good for internet contents; they can analyze, evaluate, and synthesis to contents. Besides that, the knowledge about internet ethics also has well known among Yogyakarta high school students and they also apply it when does communication and interaction with someone. The effort to be participated in society by online social campaign is also has implemented, even the result shows that most high school students in Yogyakarta are not join as participant.
