ABSTRACT Street art is an expression of art in the public spaces that aim to deny or sue a condition that is happening, in order to materialize the condition as desired. This paper seeks to describe the resistance of the youth community in Yogyakarta, to sue the government to realize the public interest, through the medium of street art. This research focus is the street art movement from the “Taring Padi” and “SURVIVE! Garage” community, which is described in qualitative methods. Street art movement of the youth community in this paper views of element “action” and “opposition”. Element "action" is realized by the youth through the process of making various works of street art around the streets of the city of Yogyakarta. "Taring Padi" known through the work of a serial poster "woodcut", while "SURVIVE! Garage" known through works of mural and "paste-art". Element "opposition" shows how the motives of the youth in performing the movement. How their views and expectations of urban planning in Yogyakarta, and how the government and the local residents can work together to realize the convenience of the city of Yogyakarta to all, without losing its cultural characteristics.
