Kaum Muda Online:Aktivitas Posting dan Sharing Facebook Mahasiswa Fisipol UGM

ABSTRACT ONLINE YOUTH: ACTIVITIES OF FACEBOOK POSTING AND SHARING OF STUDENTS OF FISIPOL UGM Starting from the growing of globalization followed by the development of internet technology which creates phenomenon of virtuality, the shift of social reality from offline toward online which is also supported by the emergence of many kinds of social media. One of populer social media is Facebook. Talking about Facebook of course relates to youth, in which majority of Facebook users are in the range of university student age which is 18-24 years old. Therefore, it becomes interesting to view Facebooking conducted by the students related to issues around the campus world. This research aimed at viewing the online actions conducted by the university students in respondinng issues related to campus world. Then, it also aimed at knowing whether the online actions conducted by the students can be ended in the offline actions. In addition, this research also aimed at viewing the benefits of Facebook in increasing the productivity of lecturing activities of the students of Fisipol (Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik/Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. This research was a qualitative research with the research strategy was online phenomenology. The method of data collection conducted in this research was an online observation and in-depth interview to twenty representatives of students of Fisipol who were active in conducting Facebook posting and sharing during three last months. In this research, it was seen that there were nine issues which attracted attention from the students of Fisipol that became discussion on Facebook. Nevertheless, there was one issue that became the main focus, that was issue related to the retribution cost of KKN UGM 2016 (field work of Gadjah Mada University 2016). Besides, Facebook also had effects in the lecturing activities, self-existence, and influenced the offline actions. Facebook is still popular in the student soriety that can be seen from the use of Facebook in responding issues related to the campus world conducted by the students. It was seen that the issues which became the focus of students’ Facebooking tended to lead to activism. This research also proved that the online and offline actions supported one another and there was no clear partition between offline and online.
