ABSTRACT Father and Mother Class Community Discussion is one of Men Care Program’s activities which is conducted by Rifka Annisa. The activity that targeted at married couple of childbearing age purposes to create the gender equality and to abolish women violent. This research is purposed to investigate whether the understanding level of gender equality can affect the independent variables such as, socio-economic level, participation level, and motivation level in increasing gender equality behavior of Community Discussion’s participant. This research used a quantitative survey method. The location of this research was Kecamatan Sentolo, Kabupaten Kulon Progo, DIY. Total sample of this research was 40 married couple which consist of 40 husbands and 40 wives. The result of this research shows that the understanding level of gender equality cannot affect the independent variables such as, socio-economic level, participation level, and motivation level in increasing gender equality behavior of Community Discussion’s participant It was proven by the decreasing correlation coefficient after getting the effect of the variables of the understanding level of gender quality in partial analysis. The result of product moment analysis also showed that socio-economic level, participation level, and motivation level had direct positive correlation significantly on gender equality behavior. Nevertheless, based on the result of regression analysis, the independent variables that gave strong effect toward the behavior of gender equality was only the understanding level of gender equality, meanwhile, another independent variables gave lower effect. The result of regression analysis also showed that the contribution of the effect of the level understanding of gender equality toward gender equality behavior was 18,3%. Even though the level understanding of gender equality could not increase the gender equality behavior, the result of multiple regression analysis showed that understanding of gender equality efforts conducted by Rifka Annisa were not in vain. That was because of the level understanding of gender equality that was obtained from Community Discussion could significantly affect gender equality behavior of the participant. Nevertheless, the organizers needed to anticipate the factors such as socio-economic level, participation level, and motivation level. Even though that factors had weak affect, it could affect gender equality behavior. As described previously, the level understanding of gender equality could not affect those factors in increasing gender equality behavior participant.
