Pelaksanaan Strategi Soft Power Diplomacy dalam Hubungan Korea Selatan dan Tiongkok

ABSTRACT In the constellation of foreign policy, South Korea has few national interests, one of them is to promote and develop the national economy. To develop its economy, South Korea needs the support of the strongest economic country in Asia, which is China. This then makes South Korea have a strategy for implementing the soft power diplomacy by Joseph S. Nye, which rests on cultural assets or South Korean popular culture, commonly called the Korean Wave. Korean wave is now becoming one of the most favored by the culture of the Chinese society. In accordance with the concept of modern diplomacy R.P. Barston, the implementation of soft power diplomacy actors involved not only governments, but the mass media, artists and idol, music companies, even the society. This diplomatic strategy carries a positive thing for South Korea directly on the economy as South Korea and China began agreed for free trade agreements, so that the intensity of their trade can be further developed. The success of the strategy of soft power can be seen from the image of the South Korean on the eyes of the Chinese people who currently widely traveled to South Korea, bilateral cooperation in economy and social-culture is getting better, even the national interests of South Korea also began to be fulfilled along with the relationship both countries are increasingly closely.
