ABSTRACT Batik is one of the cultural heritage of great Indonesia. Therefore appropriate that the day is celebrated on October 2 to keep the big names of batik. Batik is always transformed in accordance community group dynamics. That’s why batik is not only to stop as mere art but rather as a way of welfare for perpetrators of batik itself. Batik relied heavily on the shoulders of community who continue expanding the market indefinitely. This shows how closely the batik industry with the community. Many research has focused on aspects of batik industry and community efforts that rely batik as a livelihood. This study focuses on industrialist relations with workers. This viewpoint photographing social side behind the batik production. Social relations in the context of this work is essential to spur production. Thus closeness between industrialist and workers must stay awake. How patterns and social relations that have developed between industrialist and workers in small scale batik industry in the village Kemplong, Wiradesa, Pekalongan? In this study, researchers used a social exchange theory that promoted by George Caspar Homans. Broadly speaking, the theory of social exchange is one of the knives analysis that identifies relationships between actor. This relationship creates specific behaviors that make the actor feel disappointed or feel appreciated / proud. This theory describes how the social relations between actor. In this context of social exchange theory is suitable to trace the pattern of social relations between industrialists and workers. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. This study seeks to explain in depth the side that has not been revealed. Prior to this research the authors firstly review the field to understand a bit of the condition of society. Data collection techniques used were observation. Meanwhile the source of the data obtained through in-depth interviews, literature study, field documentation. Furthermore, the data will be analyzed in three ways that is data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Research's result is known that the social relations of industrialist and employees based on two aspects. First, based on professionalism. Second, the social system. Professionalism become an important basis for industrialist and workers to agree on wages and working hours. Loyalty workers and industrialist generosity are two important aspects are exchanged in the production of batik making them increasingly tight. While the social system is one of the ways out of work used by industrialist to get closer to the workers. By relying on two aspects of the lines this relations between workers and industrialist is running very strongly that the position of the actual worker is not subordinate but a partner.
