Keberhasilan Perempuan Meraih Kepemimpinan Politik di Korea Selatan dalam Analisis Dualitas Struktur Agensi

ABSTRACT The main objective of this research is to analyze women‟s rise to political leadership in South Korea, with equal emphasis on structural changes and the power of agency as its factors. Three women have risen to political leadership in modern day South Korea. Chang Sang and Han Myeong-Sook appointed as Prime Minister in 2002 and 2006 respectively. Park Geun-Hye won popular election in 2012 and crowned as the first woman to held Presidency. How prominent structures found in Korean society such as Confucianism and patriarchy act as both limiting and enabling structure in shaping their rise to political leadership will be explained in first part of analysis. As important as the first part, how these women utilize their resources to act as agent in advancing their political career and ascent to position in which they apt to make difference in status quo, will be the focus of second analysis. Lastly, analysis on how their leadership actually contributed to enhancement of gender equality in South Korea will conclude this study.
