Strategi dan Adaptasi Bertahan dalam Menghadapi Disorganisasi Sosial Keluarga:(Studi pada Keluarga Katolik di Yogyakarta)

ABSTRACT Marriage is socially recognized as a legally accepted relationship of two people or spouses into a family. In a marriage life, conflicts between spouses or in the family are sometimes unavoidable and separation becomes the only choice when the conflicts are intolerable. Separation is not only about the spouses who are agreed to live separately, but also when a spouse leaves his wife or her husband. In catholic marriage, separation can also be found where the women become the victim when their husbands leave for another woman. Women who encounter family disorganization should be tough in order to be able to take care of herself and her family as well. Thus, this study will seek the strategies and forms of adaptation for the catholic women who experience family disorganization. In order to find the strategies and forms of adaptation for the women who experience family disorganization, this study will use Max Weber’s social action theory and capital social theory. The data of this study are taken by having interviews with the chosen seven interviewees. The criteria of the chosen interviewees are catholic women who have married in Catholic matrimonial, live in Yogyakarta, and get separated with the husband; whether legally separated or without any clear circumstances. Theresult of this study shows that women are able to adapt to the current condition by getting supports and helps from others. Women need support from the family, close friends, colleagues, and even from their children to ease the adaptation process. Maximizing the networking can also become a solution in solving economic problems and it can be a form of adaptation as well. Religious activities are also able to strengthen the mentality of the women with family disorganization. Mentality which is strengthened by religious values helps the women to adapt to the new life and status. Keywords: married, disorganization, adaptation, religion
