Even so, in reality it is seen that the issue of vulnerable children have not yet touched the attention of many, especially the government. Though, children are not capable to defend their rights by themselves without any adult’s assistance. Because of that reason, children empowerment becomes the most effective solution in defending and protecting children rights. The passion to help children that are socially marginalized then becomes the focus of the work of Project Child Indonesia as a civil society organization, in achieving its vision and mission. In the process of empowering the vulnerable children, Project Child Indonesia lies upon three main focuses. These three focuses are education, health, and disaster mitigation. These three focuses are chosen based on the main issue within the community of children in Kricak Kidul Yogyakarta. Many of the programs that are being developed and implemented certainly require a suitable communication approach that is in line with the intention and the objective of both sides that are involve in the issue. For that reason, communication strategy becomes an important way to achieve the goals of the empowerment programs. The descriptive study method is used to describe the communication strategies that are used by Project Child Indonesia in empowering the vulnerable children in Kricak Kidul Jogjakarta. Furthermore, this research also shows the strategies and the steps that are conducted by Project Child Indonesia. Keywords: Vulnerable Children, Project Child Indonesia, Communication Strategy
