Abstract After the 9/11 terrorist attack, the United States goverment decided to put security as a top priority. ‘War on Terror’ principle was adopted as the principle of every security policy. Domestically, there is Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act (US Patriot Act or USAPA) which become so controversial because it allows the government to control the activities of U.S. citizens through surveillance. For the citizens, who really concern about their individual freedom, this Act violates their privacy right. Movements are set up to challenge the Act, one of them is Bill of Rights Defense Committe (BORDC). This paper will elaborate how the role of BORDC in advocating resistency against USAPA. It describes successful BORDC activities on the community and, quite surprisingly, how they failed to promote their cause in the Congress. All of these are important in analysing BORDC’s role as an interest group in American politics, especially in their ongoing move to stand against USAPA. Keywords: Bill of Rights Defense Committee (BORDC), USA Patriot Act (USAPA), privacy rights, new social movement.
