ABSTRACT This thesis discuss about how Tasmanian Wilderness conservation area is being politicized by Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbot. Tasmanian Wilderness is one of Australia World Heritage Site and it is located in Tasmania. Geographically, this area is threaten by Abbott‟s policy. He tried to pull back the Tasmanian Wilderness extension area which has been added to the World Heritage Site list in order to support economic sector of Tasmania. Abbott‟s policy becomes a nightmare threat to Tasmanian Wilderness. Tasmanian Green Coalition exist to save the nature conservation area of Tasmanian Wilderness. I, as the researcher, use the term of Green Coalition to explain communities, organizations, or any institutions whom having concern about political issue of this Tasmanian Wilderness‟ case which consist of Green Parties of Australia-Tasmania and Tasmanian Wilderness Society that supported by nature-care communities also Australia and Tasmania grassroots. Together, they do all they can, find the strategy to reject Abbott‟s policy. This research is using political ecology concept of Robert Bryant and Sinead Bailey (1997), Third World Political Ecology. Etimologically, political ecology divide from two words, ecology and politic. Discuss about ecology is the same thing we discuss about resource, while politic term to this research means power. Power in this issue straight to the form of political power over Tasmania conservation area by the Green Coalition nor the Federal Government of Australia. Natural issue has become sensitivity issue in Australia. Australian nowadays give more attention and concern to nature things and it is also give impact to political situation in Australia. Green Coalition is one of the main nature actor inside Australian people living, especially in natural issue. Tasmanian Wilderness conservation area is being politicised and Green Coalition send their respond to it. Federal government of Australian proposed a new proposal to UNESCO said that the government wants to pull back the extension of Tasmanian Wilderness conservation area to open it for log industry, and Green Coalition is at war with this. Nature movement is a respond for political ecology conflict that happened in Tasmania. All the strategies made by Green Coalition can attract more participation and attention and the issue itself raise more awareness about nature to the people and successfully aborting Abbott‟s idea destroying conservation area of Tasmanian Wilderness.
