In addition to its famous natural attractions with blue or blue flame of fire that was in the crater, another thing that makes it interesting is the phenomenon of sulfur mining. Mining is done in the traditional way of using a crowbar to dig bearers and sulfur. Amid the difficult terrain and the risk to his life, they still perform the job to support his family. In addition, the income earned by them is minimal. To make ends meet they have to adjust the strategy so that income from the mining it is enough to live on. Moreover, in the present era of the prices of basic necessities have risen sharply, which would strongly felt the impact, especially for poor people like miners. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method. Researchers studied everything in its natural setting, understand or interpret the phenomenon of meaning that people give. Data collected through non-participatory observation, structured interviews and focus, as well as documentation in the form of photos and voice recorder. In addition to the research method, researchers use theory as a tool to analyze data. The theory used is in the form of concepts of survival strategies, as well as the theory of the mechanism of survival by James C. Scott. Based on field results, researchers found that the strategies used by miners in surviving life. The strategy is to optimize resources include both human resources or natural resources in their environment. Then household expenditure management strategies. Finally, the network strategy, which is to harness social networks in the environment as one of the ways the miners to survive. Keywords: strategy, resources, income, expenses, social networks.
