2015 | Skripsi | SosiologiABSTRACT The number of vulnerable children in Yogyakarta that children from poor families, victims of divorce of parents (family disorganization) and children with disabilities / disabled is one evidence still poor socio-economic condition of our nation. Social circumstances in question is the environment that is not conducive and protection of their rights from the immediate environment such as her family. Besides the economic conditions which forced them unable to meet their basic needs such as education needs. Meanwhile, the need for such education is capital in the development of a nation. Senyum Community as a community engaged in the children develop an empowerment strategy by approaching the community in an effort to empower the lives of vulnerable children. This qualitative study intends to find out more about how the shape Senyum Community’s empowerment program, the goal of empowerment as well as the results of implementation of the empowerment program. This study used a qualitative approach. Data were collected from the observation, interview and documentation. This research was conducted at Senyum Community homes, orphanages and children's homes in areas prone itself Yogyakarta. Empowerment strategy by Senyum Community are not too much different from the conventional model of empowerment that is donated material but developing a Community Smiles alternantif empowerment through personal approach to children community-based. Senyum Community empowerment techniques by giving encouragement in the form of motivation, developing talents and interests as well as assistance social. Many Community Smiles program forms for the provision of educational assistance, skills training, entrepreneurship training and the provision of facilities and infrastructure as supporting empowerment. Results of empowerment can be seen from the availability of the material needs to support children's learning and emotional aspects of children do not feel inferior alongside their peers, increase creativity and skills of children as well as interacting with the external environment.
