During his presidency, many Egyptians feel they have little to celebrate about. People demand more jobs opportunity, better education, freedom of press, improving security and social welfare. Instead of fulfilling the hopes of people, Morsi granted himself unlimited powers and the power to legislate without judicial oversight or review of his acts. Amid this social unrest, Tamarod emerge initially in amorphous form and with wide supports from Egyptian people, Tamarod became a social movement organization. Successful petition campaign led by Tamarod and massive demonstration in Tahrir Square encourage Egyptian military to force Morsi to resign as president and arrange new democratic election. After Tamarod achieved their short term goal, this organization is trying to transform themselves into formal institution in Egypt. However, this effort is facing lots of obstacle such as identity crisis and internal conflict, making Tamarod gradually lose their power and union. Keywords: phase of social movement, revolution, social movement organization.
