ABSTRACT Dengue Fever is one of the priority treatment of infectious diseases in national development. Given the disease is not found a cure and has claimed many victims each year. Meanwhile, the government through the Village of Alert policies intended to improve public health. However, required the active participation of all elements of society to participate in this Alert optimize village. In the expansion, emerging criticism of the policies that the village Village Standby Standby actually only produces pseudo-community participation. Began discussions on that social capital to optimize return on the main standby Village handling cases of community-based dengue fever. Given the social capital through social networks and communities will have an impact on the quality of health protection. The aim of this study is to determine the role of social capital in the eradication of dengue outbreaks in the Village of Alert Sorosutan. This study uses a qualitative method of data collection techniques using interviews and observation. The results showed that, existing social capital in the community, positively impacting/ shaping active standby in Sorosutan Village forum. Where organizations or associations that exist in society, consulted each other to find solutions to existing problems based on local knowledge of local communities. A container of Village Alert forum supported by an active community of social capital, will be able to improve conditions of public health in this case related to the control and reduction in the number of dengue fever cases in the Village of Alert Sorosutan. However, there are constraints that the absence of legal protection in the form of Regulations related to coaching Village Mayor standby in Yogyakarta. Then, suggestions on these issues, namely: (1) The community should maintain and increase civic engagement and social trust in order to create a good social interaction between people and to optimize the existing network in Standby Sorosutan Village community, so that health problems in this respect fever outbreak bloody in the Village of Alert Sorosutan can be controlled; (2) In order to strengthen inter-community social networking, terut communities should be actively involved in various organizations and community groups according to their interests.
