ABSTRACT This writing is the result of a research on the working of broker at clientelism network in C.V Karya Mina Putra at the district head election of Rembang regency 2010. Theoretically, this research used clientelism theory which talks about networking. In other words, clientelism talks about networking which is used by patron to intervene the client. Furthermore, that networking is filled by brokers, or mediators between patrons and clients who work to achieve the patrons‟ wants. Therefore, to know how that networking works, the researcher did an investigation of how the brokers worked. To know the answer to the problem above, the researcher used the case study method in the research. This method was used so that the writer could explore the data from informants, because this method does not require the researcher to have a distance with the object of the research. In order to focus, this research is limited by question about “how did the brokers work at clientelism in CV. Karya Mina Putra in district head election of Rembang regency 2010?” The finding of the research were first, the context of social, economy and politics in Rembang regency supports the existence of clientelism. Second, clientelism in CV. Karya Mina Putra Existed since the company built. Third, the researcher found brokerage pattern. Fourth, there are 4 functions and elements which influenced how the brokers worked. Those functions are mediator, conceptor, monitor and distributor. Fifth, To do that functions, there are 4 booster elements: instruction, loyalty, information and distribution of materials/non materials. Sixth, broker determines the existence of asyimmetrical relation, personalistic, iteration and reciprocal which are the basic elements of clientelism.
