2015 | Skripsi | SosiologiABSTRACT This research is motivated by the Indonesian education curriculum that is bias patriarchy, especially in education which requires a qualification based on the masculinism construction as in the faculty of engineering gadjah mada university, especially in mechanical engineering department. Social construction assumed that the mechanical engineering department characterized a masculinism education system. It is being an uniqueness when a woman who is sticking to tenderness values takes a study in the department. The aim of this research is to determine the women interaction in the masculinism education and determine the pattern of power relations between male students and female students in the mechanical engineering department. This descriptive qualitative research collected on primary data which used interviews, focus group discussions, observation and documentation. The result showed that the hegemony of masculinity created male dominance, therefore, masculinity created gender inequality. Physical and psychological violence experienced by the female student and double burden in the college assignments make female student in the mechanical engineering department as a marginalized party. The experience of female student interaction in this department showed that the pattern of power relations. As a minorities party in the department, they must adapt themselves in the masculine surroundings.
