Dorongan Thailand dalam Mewujudkan ASEAN Single Visa :Kepentingan, Peluang, dan Tantangan

ABSTRACT This research was aimed to understand the purpose of Thailand to initiate the policy of single visa in ASEAN region. Another discussion in this research was about the opportunities and challenges faced by Thailand in implementing the policy within the country. The success of the first single visa implementation in the world, Schengen Visa, available in Europe had inspired Thailand to implement the same policy in South East Asia. Through its ASEAN subregion, ACMECS, Thailand for the first time started to apply the single visa policy. In fact, Thailand seemed so eager in getting other countries in applying this policy into sub-region. In addition, Thailand revealed this issue into ASEAN. Along with time, in ATF 2011, the plan of single visa policy became a focus in ASEAN tourism and it was stated in ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2011-2015 (ATSP). Since then, single visa became one of the policy planned to apply in all ASEAN countries. Thailand, as the single visa policy initiator, tried to do many efforts in applying this policy.
