ABSTRACT The museum in exhibits always will convince visitors about the fact events in the past through the scenes. Claims hegemonic for the truth of content this is certainly supported by several strategies and mechanism that are very attractive to review. The purpose of this research to analyze political strategy of display used military group to presenting discourses and military hegemony in the museum exhibition in the new order era in The Special Region of Yogyakarta. This research use Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis to describe two military museums of Yogyakarta, Museum Pusat TNI AD Dharma Wiratama dan Museum Sasmitaloka Jenderal Sudirman. This research use primary data acquired from interview and secondary data acquired from literature and observation. The accumulated data analyzed become to 3 dimentions which is, analysis of symbol, analysis of discourse practice, and analysis of sociocultural practice. The results of this research shows that two military museum telling us some discourse in exhibits, that is military existence is always needed, the integrity of military, assign the enemies of the state and appointment of General Sudirman’s profile – Guerrilla War. The two curator of museums is produce this discourse through political strategy of display dan do the capacity building to enhance organization perfomance in military museum management. Consumption over discourse can be shown on how visitors brought to remember their collective memory and identity as Indonesia nation which has very related with four military discourse. Impact from this discourse practice is the appearance of hegemony via museum. The consensus which is seen in the absence of resistance to the presence and content of museum is a form of approval between visitors with military. Two forms of hegemony is that can be detected , hegemony anti communism and hegemony military leadership. This two form hegemony is born because of the role of intellectual who can refine and bring the agreement between visitors and museum curator. Keywords : Politics of Display, Museum,
