Ilmu Sosiatri)ABSTRACT Forming a Community to Achieve Inclusive Societies for Marginalized People (Study the Disabled Community Bangkit Maju Sidomulyo Village, Sub-District Bambanglipuro, Bantul, Yogyakarta) Ali Bahtiar Sirry Difabel or in English phrase is called as difable, is an acronym for three words, which are different, ability, and people. People that called as disabled are those who have physical impairment. Unfortunately, there are many part of societies that underestimate the existence of disabled people with their physical impairment. Whereas, the amount of disabled people cannot be underestimated. Based on the data from People with Disabilities, there are 1 billion disabled people, or around 15% world population. In Special Region of Yogyakarta, there are 35.264 which not all of them have decent work. Even though there are some trainings that target disabled people, unfortunately those trainings cannot empower disabled people because its characteristic that only temporary and not sustainable. One of new empowerment model that potentially able to make disabled people become independent is in the ‘community’ system. Therefore, this research aims to reviewing the role of disabled community that located in Sidomulyo Village, named Bangkit Maju, which have dozens of disabled members. This community stand for making inclusive societies for disabled people through economy productivity. In the research process, some informants that researcher interviewed are Sidomulyo Village’s people, local government, Bangkit Maju community, disabled friendly forum of Sidomulyo Village, and some NGOs. Researcher also use observation technique within research process, in order to find the answers that relevant to research questions. This research use qualitative method with descriptive analysis approach. In the research process, researcher observe all facts in the filed in order to get clear depiction about disabled community Bangkit Maju’s role toward the process of forming inclusive societies in Sidomulyo Village, Bantul, Yogyakarta. To ease analyse the data that have been gotten, researcher use theory from Goran Therborn about the step to forming inclusive societies and Community Building Cycle by Disabilities Services Community Building Program, Victorian Government Department of Human Services about self-organizing process that being conducted by the community. Researcher find fact that in the process to form inclusive environment in Sidomulyo Village, Bangkit Maju community cannot do it alone, but need to be helped by other stakeholders, like LSM Karinakas, disabled forum Sidomulyo Village, and local government.
